When we go for a one night stay we normally bring dinner and breakfast to enjoy in our room and then buy lunch at one of the restaurants at the lodge. Luckily Great Wolf Lodge makes it easy to bring your own food, and save money along the way. However when travelling as a family of 5 meals can get expensive. We learned that here in MN.It is safe to say that we love Great Wolf Lodge! From our first trip in 2016 to our most recent (8th!!!) stay at the lodge each trip has offered a fun and interactive family vacation with the kids. You can get FREE water by just asking for a cup of water, instead of buying bottled water too. It satisfied her, DH and I! We also let our son get some dippin' dots. We did buy her a HUGE snow cone/cup for $4.00. Because they never called back and Russ and Kevin were wonderful, we decided to only eat our meals at Great Wolf and not pay the outrageous food prices and deal with the hassle. You can bring your own food and leave it at a picnic area, I guess. The website says there is no gluten-free food and lists the places that use peanut oil. I called them and never received a return call. You can get back into the park with your vehicle once during the day w/o paying another parking fee too. We would go in the morning stay until mid-day and then go back to GW to swim in the waterpark and relax and eat an early dinner and then go back into the park. We were there for 2 1/2 days and loved every minute of it.
The rides in Cedar Point were really cool and the park is HUGE! We are passholders at the park here in MN and it is about 1/2 as big as CP. I would be happy to provide the phone # if anyone wants the direct # to talk to Russ or Kevin. If anyone is going to go near Sandusky OH, I hope you consider Great Wolf. Now I know how those of you that have gone to Disney have felt! It was wonderful to not worry about where to find her next safe meal!! In eight years, I have never had anyone go so out of their way for us with Carleigh's dietary needs. We all had sandwiches except for Carleigh, who chose bacon. One with strawberries and grapes and the other with all the melons. We left with a huge thing of carrots, celery, green peppers, broccoli, and cauliflower with ranch dip for 3 of us and oil/vinegar for Carleigh. When we left, we asked Russ to prepare us a boxed meal. It was nice to see someone actually think outside of the box and bring an alternative instead of nothing. The waitress returned apologetically with a big plate of fruit and the drink because they were out of the cotton candy. There was nothing safe on the list for Carleigh, but I saw that one of the desserts used cotton candy so we asked for that and a raspberry/pink lemonade slushy drink. Three of us ordered a brownie/ice cream dessert. One night we decided to have a treat after coming back from Cedar Point. They fried her french fries on the stove top in a pan to avoid the contaminated fryer. Both times for dinner she chose carrot sticks, hamburger patty and french fries. Carleigh ate bacon, potatos and a HUGE serving of watermelon, honeydew melon, pineapple and grapes. They serve a family style breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatos and have a wonderful fruit bar.
When we got there, I met with another chef named Kevin because Russ was in a meeting at the time. He was so nice and said they would be able to accomodate all of Carleigh's allergies. I called and spoke to Russ, a chef, to see if they would be able to accomodate us at the restaurants.
We just got back home from an awesome vacation! My DH found Great Wolf Lodge on line and they had decent rates and a water park that is about 10 minutes away from CP. A while ago, I posted a request to find out if anyone knew of any good restaurants near Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky OH.
